Sports Ministry shun Sly Tetteh funeral

The Ministry of Youth and Sports has once again come under attack for non-commitment towards honouring the nation’s sports heroes. The Ministry has been accused of showing disrespect to the late Alhaji Sly Tetteh as they failed to attend the celebrated soccer administrator’s final funeral rites in Dansoman on Saturday.

Angry former players have likened the latest development to the same behavior some few weeks ago when the Ministry also failed to respect the association of national old footballers who had then invited them to a fundraising dinner at the State House.

“This is gross disrespect which must be condemned outright. Sly Tetteh did a lot for football development in this country, he was a national hero. The least the Sports Ministry could have done was to honour his death with their presence at his funeral.

“It’s just too bad because a nation that does not honour its heroes is not worth dying for,” a former national team star lamented to *PSLSoccergh.com*

Persons from all walks of life were at the Carl Reindorf Park to show respect to the founder and owner of Liberty Professionals who passed away on September 3 playing soccer in Cape Coast and buried the next day at the Osu cemetery in Accra. He was 54.
