Akaba faces Beninois Lokossou for WBO title

Accra, Sept. 26, GNA - Ghanaian Osumanu Akaba will face Benin counterpart Theodore Lokossou for the interim World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Africa Super Featherweight title on Saturday, October 8 at the Lebano= n House, Accra. Akaba, 31, a former World Boxing Council (WBC) International Champion will come face-to-face with the Beninois, the current African Boxing Confederation (ABC) Featherweight title holder in the 12-rounder topmost clash of the bill dubbed 93The Night of only the Strong" which is put together by Heart of Lions Boxing Promotions. This fight will be the third time the southpaw will be facing Lokossou in his boxing career.

Akaba managed a unanimous decision victory over his opponent on March 6 2003 at the Accra Sports Stadium and replicated the feat four years later, this time round with a fourth-round Technical Knockout. In other related title bouts, Raymond Commey of the Square Deal Gym will face Isaac Nettey of the Will Power Gym for the National Super Bantamweight title whilst Sena Agbeko of the Bridge Foundation Gym will loc= k horns against George Banson of the Bukom Gym for the National Super Middleweight title, both in 12-rounds. Maxwell Awuku of the Alajo Gym will battle it out with Togolese Nicholas Sarouna in an International Lightweight contest whilst Essau Adoko Fit Square Gym will also face Nigerian Isaac Ekpor in a Light Heavyweight contest.

Sagacious Gym duo of Dodzi Kemeh and Kofi Manu will engage Baba Clay o= f the Kumasi Gym and Nii Akrofi of Indigo Gym respectively in Welterweight contests of eight rounds each.

In a Lightweight contest, Malik Jabir of the Sonia Gym will come up against Tackie Annan of the Bukom Gym whilst Nana Brenya Bee of the Cape Coast Gym will clash with John Amuzu of the Fit Square Gym. There will also be musical performances from R 2 Bees and Edu Wodzi of Yenko Nkoaa fame. Sponsors of the night include T.T. Brothers Limited and Gidi Power.
