GFA To Declare Accounts To Sector Ministry

Ghana’s Youth and Sports Ministry, is formally demanding that the Ghana Football Association starts putting its accounts in proper shape as from the next football season. It expects that the FA will declare how it utilised all the grants from FIFA and CAF as well as other sponsorship packages.

Former Sports Writer and now Deputy Youth and Sports Minister, Joe Aggrey who made this known urged that the move must not be seen as undue interference in the affairs of the GFA but as a means of making officials of the local sports body, accountable.

He described the move to make the FA accountable to the Ministry as a step to towards making it autonomous. In the opinion of the Deputy Minister, the fight against corruption must be must be waged on all fronts and called on all the Interest groups in football to brace up to the challenge.

He was full of praise for the New GFA administration for drawing up a blue print – dubbed; “The Way forward, Vision” for the long-term development of Soccer. He said the GFA Blue Print had the great potential of injecting newblood into the Black-Stars, and would yield dividends and well yield dividends and give Ghana a World-Cup ticket in the year 2006.
