Hearts sack coach

Hearts of Oak have summed up a poor eight-day period with the sacking of coach Abubakar Yusif after their failed title defence.

He becomes the second coach to have been dismissed by the Phobians this season and follows in the footsteps of his former boss, Ayman El Yamani.

Assistant coach, Tony Allotey is expected to act. The dethroned champions on Sunday confirmed the dismissal of the coach soon after the team were beaten 1-0 by an understrength Asante Kotoko side to commemorate the 9th anniversary of the May 9 disaster that claimed the lives of 126 fans at the Ohene Djan Stadium.

Yusif was brought in during the first round of the season to salvage what looked like a poor start to their campaign.

But with one game to go, the Phobians who risk missing the chance of Champions League football after their title ambitions were blown away have moved to axe the coach and the team manager.

The coaches troubles can traced to their defeat to Kessben FC eight days ago when after taking a commanding 2-0 lead, the Abrankese side rallied back to stun Hearts 3-2.

Then followed their 2-2 draw with King Faisal three days later, a result which ended their hopes of winning the league title.

Management member of the club, Frank Nelson says Yusif was dismissed because he “is not competent enough to handle the duties of the club.”

However, the sacked coach says not received any official notification and claims several other factors contributed to the team's failed title hopes.

He also says he will not contest the decision to sack him but drew attention to the club's contractual obligations to him.

Yusif was promoted to the position of head coach when Egyptian Ayman El Yamani left the club through the similar situation.

El Yamani was shown the exit door after club sources had claimed he had been produced poor results in the opening 10 matches of the Glo Premier League.
