Ghana draws Togo, Burkina in WAFU Nations Cup

Ghana home-based Black Star have been drawn alongside Togo, Burkina Faso,and Liberia in Group B of the West African Union Nations and Eyadema Cup, kicking off in Abeokuta on April 9.

In Group A of the competition Nigeria will slug it out with Senegal, Benin and Guinea.

Tuesday's event held at the Valley-View auditorium, Government House, Abeokuta, had in attendance the host governor, Chief Gbenga Daniel, WAFU President Amos Adamu, Paul Bassey, CAF Media Officer, ex-internationals, Peter Rufai and Chief Segun Odegbami.

Others include, Dr. Rafiu Ladipo, Nigeria Football Federation President, Alhaji Sanni Lulu Abdulahi and Coach Jossy Lad.

While Nigeria will play Senegal, Ginuea, Benin- Republic at the MKO Abiola International Stadium, Abeokuta, Ghana will slug it out with Togo, Burkina-Faso and Liberia at the Gateway International Stadium in Ijebu-Ode.

Also, the draws for Eyadema Cup to be competed for were also made as three clubsides from Nigeria:Â Sharks FC, Lobi Stars FC and Niger Tornadoes FC.

Adamu in his remarks at the ceremony commended the Ogun State government on the state-of–the-art facilities provided by the Daniel-led administration and urged youths in the state to make use of the facilities as a way of bringing out the innate talent and abilities in them. He said that the tournament was last played 19 years ago in Cote d'voire.
