Arsenals chief blasts Local Black Stars selection

The General Secretary of Berekum Arsenals, Tachie Arhin alias Thunder has expressed dismay over the local Black Stars squad named to start camping for next month’s two-legged CHAN qualifier against Burkina Faso. The team started training in Legon in Accra yesterday but Mr. Arhin has questioned the absence of certain players in the 44 man squad apparently named by new coach Herbert Addo.

“Where is the team that was sent to Argentina for a friendly match last year? Where is the core of the team that featured in the last edition of the CHAN tournament?” he challenged.

Thunder even accuses that the squad was not selected by coach Addo but certain bigwigs at the Ghana Football Association in pursuance of their own selfish objectives. He abhors anyone to read meanings into his views because no player from his club was named among the 44 players selected. Arhin says he is fighting against what he termed unfair and selective justice within the GFA.

He said good players like Osei Bonsu (Hearts of Oak), Ofosu Appiah and lsaac Amoako of Asante Kotoko, Stephen Ahorlu (Heart of Lions), Ohene Brenya and Francis Aggrey all deserve to be in the squad and until Coach Herbert Addo comes out to say he did not do the selection, he won’t stop his campaign against pettiness in the Ghanaian game.

Mr. Arhin also believes Serbian tactician Milovan Rajevac must as a duty be the one coaching the local Black Stars and he must tour the nation to see players and select the best players for the national teams. “I can’t even understand why the job should be given to Herbert Addo instead of Milo or his deputy Akwasi Appiah. This is a waste of the tax payer’s money,” Mr. Arhin told Ark FM in Sunyani.
