Ghana Cycling Association embarks on nationwide registration exercise

Accra, Feb. 16, GNA - The Ghana Cycling Association is scheduled to undertake a nationwide registration and licensing of all cyclists, cycling clubs and officials in the country. The exercise, which is aimed at streamlining and regulating the activities of cyclists and cycling clubs in the country and also ensure proper documentation will commence on 18th February and end on 12th March, 2010. A statement issued by William Kyei, Secretary General of the GCA, copied to GNA Sports said the mandatory registration exercise forms part of the Association's plan for the years ahead and also a fulfilment of its obligation to the Confederation of Africa Cycling (CAC) and the International Cycling Union (UCI).

It said cyclists and cycling clubs who fail to partake in the exercise will forfeit their participation in future national and international competitions organised by the GCA, UCI and CAC. The statement said participants said must come along with three passport pictures and birth certificates and encouraged all prospective participants to contact their respective Regional Sports Council offices for the necessary registration exercise.

The exercise begins at the Media Centre of the Ohene Djan stadium for those from the greater Accra Region on Thursday, February 18 thence to Volta Region on the 19 February, Eastern - 22 February, Central - 25 February and Western - 26 February.

The Northern Region would have its turn on 8 March, Upper East- 10 March, Upper West - 11 March, Brong Ahafo (morning) - 12 March and Ashanti Region in the afternoon of 12 March all at the offices of the Regional Sports Council.
