Mido misses out on Ghana test

African champions Egypt will be shorn of the services of Mido in the upcoming friendly against Ghana.

The forward suffered a muscle strain during Wigan's 0-0 draw with Fulham and needed to be substituted before the half-time interval.

Mido's brother, Tamer Wasfi, confirmed the 25-year-old's will sit out Wednesday's encounter with the Black Stars.

"He suffered a muscle strain and asked to be substituted," Wasfi told FilGoal.

"Mido will miss the Ghana game because he needs five days of rest before undergoing physical therapy.

"Mido is lucky that Wigan will not play next weekend because they are no longer participating in the FA Cup.

"He will not take part in Wigan's next league game against Middlesbrough because regulations prohibit him from facing his original club, so he will have around three weeks to fully recover."

Pharoahs coach Hassan Shehata is expected to field Amr Zaki and Emad Meteb as his strike contingent in Mido's absence.
