Matthew Amoah suffers injury setback

Ghana striker Matthew Amoah will be out of action for at least two weeks because of injury.

The 27-year-old, who plays for Dutch side NAC Breda, suffered a groin injury during training last week.

Efforts by doctors to fast-track him back to action to play in Friday?s 2-0 over Excelsior backfired as he failed to respond to treatment.

Doctors of the Dutch side now say he needs at least two weeks of rest to recuperate.

His absence is a blow to the title ambitions of fourth-placed NAC Breda who are just six points behind leaders PSV Eindhoven.

Amoah is one of the key players of the club after scoring eights goal in his injury-plagued season.

A similar injury kept him out of Ghana squad for the recent African Cup of Nations they hosted.

He is unlikely to be available even if coach Claude Le Roy picks him for next week's friendly against Mexico.
