Guineans arrive with a mission

Accra, Jan. 16, GNA - The Syli National of Guinea arrived in Accra on Wednesday night for the Ghana 2008 Africa Cup of Nations with a single mission - qualify for the semi finals of the tournament. Skipper Pascal Feindounou, told the GNA Sports on arrival that they are in the tournament to make an impact and are not worried by the presence of host nation Ghana in their group. According to the Captain, winning the competition is their target but first objective is to pick one of the four slots in the semi-finals.

"We are in Ghana to improve upon our previous records in the tournament by booking a place in the semi finals of the competition. "We are well prepared for the tournament and nothing would stop us from achieving our target." he stated.

The Guineans would play Ghana in the opening game of the tournament at the Ohene Djan Stadium in Accra.

The West Africans who are placed third on the continent are regarded as one of the strongest sides in the competition. 16 Jan. 07
