Amputees team begin training for World Cup

Accra, Oct 31, GNA - The National Amputee Soccer team has commenced preparations towards the impending Single Leg Amputee World Championship slated for Turkey.

The training camp fixed for November 11-21 has so far attracted 25 amputees selected from across the country to engage in the final training exercise to enable the technical team select the final 20 for the event. The team will be under the technical tutelage of Samuel Aidoo. According to the officials of the team, the final squad is expected to leave Ghana a few days ahead of the event to round up their preparations for the championship

Officials of the team have expressed enthusiasm over the chances of the team because the players are bent on following the footsteps of their colleagues at the last All Africa Games in Algiers, where they came home with nine medals.

Coach Aidoo said that the players are fired up for the competition and expressed the hope that they will make the nation proud.
