Central Region (GABA) stages boxing tournament

Cape Coast, Aug 3 GNA - The Central Regional branch of the Ghana Amateur Boxing Association (GABA) will stage a boxing tournament at the Victoria Park on Saturday, August 11, 2007 as part of activities to mark the PANAFEST celebrations.

The tournament, dubbed 'Ghana @ 50 BONAZA', will feature local boys Nana Benya Bee against Stephen Benso with Ali Alabi slugging it against Kwadjan Dodoo in the Super Bantamweight and Featherweight divisions. According to pairings released by the Association to the GNA Sports on Thursday, the main amateur bout will see Abaka Johnson of Abura facinge Stephen Amuzu from the Eastern Region in the Middleweight contest, while Frank Zoya sorts it against Tujani Mohammed both from Cape Coast in the Super-feather weight division with Michael Pappoe from Kasoa meeting Nana Yaw of Cape Coast in the Featherweight division. The other pairings are Abu Iddrisu of Kasoa slugs it against Lloyd Kwame from the Brong Ahafo Region in the Featherweight division, Emmanuel Mensah of Kasoa versus Kojo Appiah of Cape Coast in the Lightweight division, Samuel Wrighter in a local derby against Kojo Yeboa in the Welterweight division

An exhibition bout will be conducted between Kwesi Annobil of Winneba against John Donkoh from Mankessim to climax the tournament.
