Sekondi stadium to be handed over in September

Essipong, (W/R) March 28, GNA - Constructional works at the Essipong Sports Stadium near Sekondi under construction towards the Ghana CAN 2008 soccer event is 80 percent complete.

Mr. Eric Quaicoe, the Manpower Supplier of the Shangai Construction Group (SCG) undertaking the stadium project told members of a Parliamentary Select Committee on Environment, Science and Technology who were on a day's working visit to the Shama Ahanta East Metropolis. He said the superstructure of the 20,000 seating capacity stadium has four dressing rooms, 40 room hotels, four prestige rooms, a football field and physically challenged seating area.

Mr Quaicoe said floodlights and a giant scoreboard has already been installed while the paintings were almost complete with the chairs to be fixed soon.

He added that the base of the asphalt for the tartan tracks had also been completed while the playing field was being prepared.

Mr Quaicoe said all outstanding works would be completed on schedule for the stadium to be handed over in September this year. The delegation was led by Mr. Albert Obbin, Member of Parliament for Prestea Huni Valley.
