Kufuor inspects Stadium reconstruction works

Accra, Aug. 21, GNA - President John Agyekum Kufuor at the weekend inspected the ongoing reconstruction works on the Kumasi Sports Stadium. The Baba Yara Stadium is among the four stadiums being upgraded to meet international standards as Ghana hosts the Confederation of African Nations (CAN) 2008 soccer tournament.

The others are in Accra, Tamale and Sekondi-Takoradi.

A press release from the Castle Press Office on Monday said Mr Stefano Ramella, Managing Director of Consar Limited, the Construction Company undertaking the project, conducted President Kufuor round. He told President Kufuor that judging by the rate at which the work was progressing they would finish the job ahead of schedule.

Mr Ramella said he had every reason to believe that the stadium would be ready by October next year.
