Look out for All Blacks -- Kofi Abbrey

Accra, Aug 16, GNA -- Windsor Kofi Abbrey, a former Ghanaian international and now deputy coach of premiership side, Swedru based Gamba All Blacks has said that his team would be the one to attract all the attention and rave media reviews during the incoming season. The coach said he based his assertion on the kind of preparations they had made for the impending season, coupled with the goodwill they enjoyed from the management and supporters of the club.

He said as a former international of repute, it was incumbent upon him and his technical colleagues to teach the players all the intricacies of the game so that they would excel and meet the aspirations of those who fund and support the club in various ways. Coach Abbrey said Gamba All Blacks would enter the premiership with a brand of football that 'will be simple but result oriented' to place them among the elites of Ghana football, adding that the goal drought which had been synonymous with Ghanaian clubs would be completely alien to the Swedru team.

'We have trained to score goals and we shall make sure that we score a lot of them in the season so as to qualify us to pick one of the four places to represent Ghana in Africa.'

He lauded Mr George Afriyie, CEO of the club and the Board of Directors for the high level of motivation they had given the players and the technical team and promised that they would reciprocate the gesture by putting in their best.

He appealed to the supporters to rally behind the club and exercise restraint when the going gets tough.

"Our supporters should keep cheering us even when we find it tough in a game because we are determined to overcome all difficulties and bring glory to the club, Swedru and Central Region as a whole. Corroborating the position of his assistant, head coach Nana Gyepi said Gamba All Blacks had returned to the premiership for good and all what mattered was the realisation of a championship ambition to appease the people of the region for their long absence from top flight football.

He said another deviation for the Ghanaian soccer hiccup would be the way they convert their set pieces.

"We shall demonstrate to Ghanaians that goals could be scored from set pieces and it is our determination to blaze the trail in this regard to change the face of Ghana football which had a record of missed opportunities from set pieces.

He appealed to the management of the team to sustain the high level of motivation so that the team would not falter along the line as they strive to surmount the rigours of the premiership.

Team manager, Nana Eku Fraku Brempong III summed up the feeling in camp when he said it was the aspiration of the CEO to win the premiership and everybody in the Gamba All Blacks family shared in that aspiration.

Gamba All Blacks open their re-entry into the premiership with a home game against Liberty Professionals on Sunday.
