Ghana to miss Habib on Tuesday?

Wurzburg, Germany, June 25, GNA-Ghana Black Stars may miss the services of natural left fullback Habib Mohammed due to injury when they cross swords with Brazil in a crucial knockout game billed for Dortmund on Tuesday.

The player picked an injury at the team's last training session in Wurzburg on Saturday and required immediate treatment at the hospital. The King Faisal defender, who has excelled in that position after taking over from Emmanuel Addoquaye Pappoe may not be fit to make the team that would be needing a win to advance to the quarter final stages of the competition at the expense of the defending champions.

This is the first time Coach Ratomir Djukovic would be missing a player to an injury since the tourney commenced on June 9.

Though the team doctors are yet to come out with their findings with regards to the extent of the injury, the GNA Sports has learnt that risking the player for the game would not worth it.

Habib had a fine debut against the Czech Republic with a great performance that gave him an automatic start against the United States of America (USA) in the last Group E duel in Nuremburg on Thursday. Coach Djukovic was expected to keep faith in him at that position but for the injury the doctors fear could be a fracture.

The talented defender is one of the three local players included in the 23-man list.

Though he did not feature in any game during the qualifier, his services came in handy after the left fullback emerged as one of the weakest link in the team.
