Sudanese Refs to officiate Malawi-Ghana tie in Lilongwe

44-year old Sudanese referee Khalid Abdel Rahman has been named as the centre man for the 2013 AFCON 2nd leg final qualifying match between the Flames of Malawi and the Black Stars of Ghana scheduled for the Civo Stadium, Lilongwe on Saturday, October 13, footy-Ghana.com can confirm.

The experienced Sudanese centre man who has been an international referee since 2001, has handled 2 games involving the Black Stars in his 40 international matches he has officiated so far.

On 11th October 2008, referee Abdel Rahman handled his first Ghana game in a 2010 World Cup qualifier which the Black Stars defeated Lesotho by 3-0 at the Essipong Stadium.

His other Ghana game was at the second edition of the African Nations Championship in 2011 where the local Black Stars suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of South Africa.

Referee Abdel Rahman also recently handled Berekum Chelsea’s 3-0 qualifying round loss to Raja Casablanca in April this year.

He will be assisted by compatriots Waleed Ahmed Ali (1st Assistant), Mohammed Idam Hamid (2nd Assistant) and Badr El Din Abdel Gadir (4th Official).
