Soccer-Raggae Boyz to undertake two-match tour of Ghana

Accra (Greater Accra), 12th July 99, --

The Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) is to sponsor a two-match soccer tour of Ghana by the Jamaica national soccer team, the Raggae Boyz next month.

The 180 million-cedi package includes airfare and hotel accommodation.

The Jamaicans will meet the Black Stars in their first match at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday, August seven and play Kumasi Asante Kotoko at the Kumasi Sports Stadium on Wednesday, August eleven.

The matches form part of activities of the forthcoming fourth Pan-African Historical Theatre Festival, Panafest '99, scheduled for July 30 to August eight.

Mr Kojo Yankah, Chairman of the Panafest Board told a press briefing in Accra on Friday that Wittnauer Limited, a watch-manufacturing firm in the United States has presented two trophies (President and PANAFEST) to be competed for in the Accra and Kumasi matches respectively.

Mr Yankah, who is also the Ashanti Regional Minister, said Cape Coast Ebusua Dwarfs will host Asante Kotoko at the refurbished Cape Coast Stadium on August six as part of activities to raise funds for the festival.

He said the Cape Coast stadium was chosen because of its historical background in the triangular slave trade on the continent.

Ex-Black Stars captain, Abedi Ayew Pele will be the special guest of honour for all the three matches.
