SWAG CUP: Ashgold threaten Kotoko

Ashgold SC has issued a verbal warning to Kumasi Asante Kotoko ahead of the regional showdown in the SIC Nyemitei SWAG Cup Match.

The traditional Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) will be between Ashgold and Kumasi Asante Kotoko.

The miners promise to avenge their FA cup semi-final defeat when the two sides clash in the offseason traditional tournament.

Bashiru Hayford side believes the arrival of new players in the camp of Kumasi Asante Kotoko will be a motivating factor in itself ahead of their meeting.

The champions openly revealed their trophy hunger and the need to maintain the fear factor ahead of the new FCPPL season. Kumasi Asante Kotoko has been the busiest of all the clubs on the local scene with a massively overhauled side.

Duncan’s charges secured the services of some high profile names in the country whiles the twin brothers from Edubiase headlined the major arrivals at Ashgold.

Communication Director for Ashgold took a jab at their regional neighbours ahead of the SWAG cup despite the massive improvement expected from Kotoko. “We are going to beat Kotoko by not less than two goals in the SWAG cup next week. Even with their new arrivals, I doubt if they can contain us on the field. We are going to add the SWAG Cup to our trophy cabinet ahead of the new season. We will be ready for them next week.” Kofi Yawson told sports crusader.

Obuasi-based Ashgold end a nearly two-decade wait for domestic glory at the end of last. The miners were denied a shot at the double by Kumasi Asante Kotoko in the semi-finals of the MTN FA cup. Kotoko eventually lost out to Medeama in the grand finale.
