Officials asked to submit quarterly reports

Accra, Dec 5, GNA - Prince Ernest Oduro-Mensah, Chief Executive Officer of the National Sports Council (NSC) has urged the various associations under it to submit their quarterly reports with relevant data on athletes to enable the Council keep track of their performance. He said this will aid the Council to source for sponsorship for all associations to enable them execute their planned programs for sustained development and promotion of sports nation-wide.

Prince Oduro-Mensah said this in a press release issued by the Public relations Officer of the Council, Hamah Hamid Issakah, copied to the GNA Sports when the Chief Executive met the various Chairmen and Secretary Generals of all the associations under the Council in Accra. He said the coming years' call for strategic planning in order to achieve the goals and objectives of the Council and the Associations as a whole in the face of the competing demands on the government budgetary allocations.

Prince Oduro-Mensah also called for proposals from the associations towards the 2007 All Africa Games and charged the Technical Department of the Council to ensure that a strong contingent capable of winning honours is assembled to represent the country.

The Chief Executive disclosed that the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) plans to organize a seminar for the Chairmen and Secretary Generals early next year to update their knowledge and improve the skills of members in order to face the new challenges emerging in sports.

Members of the Council at the meeting applauded the recent successes chalked by Ghanaian sportsmen and women and pledged their total commitment and support to ensure that Ghana becomes a leader in sports, especially in the sub-region.

He therefore called for the cooperation of all the associations in order to deliver quality service to Ghanaians and tasked them to ensure that they account for all resources allocated them. 05 Dec. 06
