Offer Support to lesser-known sports--Abeiku

Accra, March 5, GNA - Mr Abeiku Kingsley, host of the TV Africa programme 'Support Base' has called on the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the National Sports Council (NSC) to offer the necessary assistance for the development of the lesser-known sports in the country.

Mr Kingsley who made the call in Accra on Sunday, said the lesser-known sports such as table tennis, badminton, hockey and golf must not be left to die but rather need to receive the necessary attention now.

He regretted that the NSC and the GFA are only concerned about the development of football to the neglect of the other sports which he said is doing a lot of harm to the nation. Mr Kingsley therefore appealed to the GFA to organize league competitions for the lesser known sports to make them popular in the country.

He also appealed to the NSC to put in measures to protect supporters who throng the stadia to watch matches and other sporting events.
