No winner for squash tourney

The 2013 Captain's Day Squash Tournament, played at the Kumasi Squash Club on Boxing Day, ended in a 3-3 draw.

The contest, which was between the Captain Kwadwo Dekyi and vice Captain, Kwame Osei Prempeh’s teams could not produce a winner.

The contest was pegged at 3-3 after six outings when the final game was called off due to injury to a player.

Captain Kwadwo Dekyi and Eric Mensah of the vice Captain’s team were pegged at 1-1 when the game was called off due to injury.

This sudden turn of events meant that no winner emerged at the Captain’s Day Tournament which is one of the most competitive games in the club’s calendar.

Prior to the final game, Lawyer Yaw Boafo, Boakye Brobbey and Nana Opoku Agyeman of the captain’s team had beaten Kwabena Sarpong, Lawyer Steve Oppong and Fred Ofori of the vice Captain’s team.

On the other side, Sammy Adu Boakye and Kofi Asante, who were very impressive, recorded remarkable wins for the vice captain’s team when they accounted for Lawyer Coffie and Frank Donkoh.

Meanwhile, Captain Kwadwo Dekyi has won the Group A league of the Kumasi Squash Club for 2013 as he finished ahead of Eric Mensah.

In Group B, Fred Ofori won via head-to-head after he was pegged at 8 points along with Nana Opoku Agyeman.

Winners of the two groups of the league which was started in August 2013 were each presented with trophies.
