National Open Chess Championship on Aug. 12

Accra, Aug. 7, GNA - The Second National Open Chess Championship comes off at the North Ridge Hotel in Accra on Saturday, August 12. Mr Edward Thompson, Tournament Director of the Ghana Chess Association who announced this in Accra on Monday, said 50 players are expected to participate in the one-day tournament which is being sponsored by the Association.

He said the competition which starts at 0930 hours will attract 20,000 cedis as participation fee and it is open to players throughout the country.

Mr Thompson said that the first three winners at the end of the competition would receive lucrative prizes.
