Kufuor in Trouble

BAYERN BOSSES seem to be losing patience with unlucky defender Sammy Kuffour after his latest blunders, this time against Schalke.

Kuffour’s mistakes caused two goals for Schalke on Saturday, and have being made the scapegoat for Bayern having lost a decisive match as well as the top position.

General Manager Uli Hoeness angrily stated: "Now we will interrupt talks about renewing his contract. I don't want to talk to a guy who is performing like rubbish. The way he plays does not justify paying him a single mark!"

With this outburst, Hoeness obviously reacted not only to some poor displays of the Ghana international, but also to his recent attempts to make a move to CF Barcelona with secretly talking to Barca agent Bernd Schuster.

Kuffour’s contract with Bayern runs until 2003. However, it is not likely Bayern will let him get out of his contract, as the club will find it hard to replace him. Bayern have been searching for months now to make up for the loss of Markus Babbel and have not been able to find an adequate replacement.
