Kuffour for Partenity Test

Full story: In German

BARELY two weeks after getting married, Ghana’s most celebrated footballer today, Samuel Osei-Kuffour, has been hit by a paternity charge by a Munich-based 30-year-old Ghanaian lady , Hagar Cutter.

Miss Cutter has named Kuffour of newly crowned European club champions, Bayern Munich as the father of her four-month-old daughter, Tracy and she is prepared to go to all lengths to establish her claim.

Consequently, her lawyers have filed a writ requesting that the Champions Bayern Munich defender, undergoes a paternity test to establish or refute Miss Cutter’s claims.

The news, first carried by Germany’s daily sports paper, the Bild said Kuffour’s lawyers have agreed that their client undertake the paternity test but have also asked that the case be taken out of court.

According to Miss Cutter, she and Kuffour attend the same church in Harlaching and in the course of their friendship she became pregnant last year and decided to have the child.

she has solely borne the responsibility of looking after the four-month-old baby she named Tracy and now lives on social welfare assistance to make ends meet.

But realising that she wants to give her daughter an identity, she has decided to seek legal action and get the needed support for her daughter.

Reacting to the story initially on Radio Gold’s sports programme, ‘Gold Sports’ and later in a telephone interview with the Graphic Sports yesterday, Kuffour said he had been made aware of the case by his lawyers and has agreed to undergo the paternity test as soon as he gets back to his base, Munich.

The Black Stars’ deputy captain currently on holiday in Kumasi, said while he did not deny knowing the woman, the existence of the baby had never been brought to his notice until now and would not shy away from his responsibilities if indeed, the paternity test proves that Tracy is his daughter.

Though he admits that he is not particularly happy about the way the news broke, he is grateful that his new bride, Francesca, understands and this poses no threat to their marriage.

“This may not be the most pleasant thing, I must admit, but I don’t think there is much I can do about it now. The lady (Hager) and I never made any promises or discussed marriage so it would be wrong for anyone to think that I’ve disappointed someone by having a child with her and marrying someone else,” Kuffour explained.

Asked if he would go back to Munich in view of what has happened, he replied in the affirmative saying he had not committed any crime and therefore did not see why he should run away, “in any case, if it is a crime, the law would get me anywhere I go to hide, he said.

“I’m a man and ready to accept my responsibilities. I’m currently on holidays and will go back to my home and career once my holiday is over, I’m not running. It is unfortunate that this has happened at the time it has happened, but I’m ready to do whatever it takes to make things right,” he emphasised.
