Kintampo United Top Brong Ahafo Division Two League

Sunyani,(Brong Ahafo Region) 11 Oct. Kintampo United topped group "A" of the Brong Ahafo second division football league which ended last week with 39 points from 18 matches played. According to the final league table released by the B/A Regional Football Association (BARFA) at Sunyani yesterday, Kintampo United won 13 matches and lost five, scoring 37 goals and conceding 14. Nkoranza Gyeabour United, who placed second with 37 points, won 12 matches, drew one and lost five. They scored 33 goals and conceded 13. Tuobodom United, Sampa Frontier Stars, Akuma Smiling Cosmos, Techiman Black Powers and Adusuokor F/C had 34, 33, 31, 28 and 27 points to follow in that order. Aworowa Arsenals took the eighth position with 22 points, while Atomfoman United came ninth with seven points and Debibi Eleven Strickers placed last with only a point. In the group "B" matches, Mim Timber Company (MTC) Stars topped the league table with 40 points. They won 13 matches, drew one and lost four. Nsoatreman F/C, who were second, chalked 39 points, winning 12 matches, drawing three and lossing three, while Wamanafo Mighty Royals had 35 points to place third, followed by Sunyani Aston Villas with 33 points, Bechem United 31 points, Nkrankwanta Asuo-Piri 25 points and Abesim Gyeabour 19 points. Seikwa Nkoraman came eighth with nine points, Japekrom Mpuasuman had two points and Dormaa Indece were last with no point. Meanwhile, seven teams who also took part in the league -- three from group "A" and four in group "B" -- have been sanctioned by the disciplinary committee of BARFA for their "continuous refusal to honour their away matches" during the second round of the league. The group "A" clubs are: Atomfoman United Aworowa Arsenals and Debibi Eleven Strickers (all in group "A"). Those in group "B" are: Dormaa Indece, Japekrom Mpuasuman and Seikwa Nkoraman United F/C. A statement signed by Mr Kwabena Munufie, secretary of the BARFA stated "the clubs have been withdrawn from the regional second division league with immediate effect". It however did not state how long the punishment would last or whether the clubs affected would be eligible to play for regional third division league next year.
