Hearts, Hasaacas Clash In Nkrumah Memorial Cup

Accra, (Greater Accra) 25 Oct.,

Champion club, Accra Hearts of Oak will clash with Sekondi Hasaacas in a first-leg of a special 'Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Cup' soccer match at the Sekondi Gyandu park on Sunday, November two. The return encounter will be played a week later at the Accra sports stadium. At stake is a giant trophy donated by Mr. Jimmy Butler Aggrey, a Quantity Surveyor based in the United Kingdom. A statement issued in Accra today by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) said the match, being organised by the Kwame Nkrumah Foundation, a non-political organisation, is to raised funds for educational programmes of the foundation, especially the establishment of "Kwame Nkrumah Chair of African Studies" at the University of Ghana, Legon. The match forms part of activities marking the 88th birthday celebration of Dr. Nkrumah, Ghana's first President, which fell on September 21.
