Golden Bikers leave for African championship

Accra, Nov. 7, GNA - A four-man delegation of the national cycling team, the Golden Bikers left Accra on Sunday morning for Kigali, Rwanda to compete in the Africa Cycling Championship slated for 9-14 November, 2010. The delegation includes Samuel Amin, Nuru Pardie, Henry Tetteh Djangmah - all cyclists and Mohammed Shaaban, Technical Director of the Association.

William Kyei, General Secretary of the Ghana Cycling Association told GNA Sports that the team will be competing for honours alongside 14-other nations including hosts Rwanda, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia, Morocco and Egypt. He said the team will compete in the men's event of team trail over 40km, individual time trial (33 km and 17.2 km) and the men road race of over 144km.

Kyei expressed gratitude to Promasidor Ghana Limited, producers of Cowbell Milk for sponsoring the team's participation in the continental championships. Meanwhile, the Ghana Cycling Association has appointed Dennis Moore, a Sports Journalist as the Director of Communications for a four-year period. Moore was formerly Head of Sports at Vibe FM and Choice FM, both in Accra. 07 Nov. 10
