Ghana to host Africa Cup of Nations Netball Championship

Accra, Aug. 5, GNA - The National Netball Association of Ghana in conjunction with the National Sports Authority will host the Africa Cup of Nations Netball Championship in Accra from 10th 96 15th August, 2011 at th= e University of Ghana, Legon Netball Courts.

The championship, which is the flagship competition of the Confederation of Africa Netball Association, (CANA) has so far seen Mozambique, Tanzania and Zambia confirming their participating in the event= .. A press release signed by the Secretary General of the Netball Association of Ghana copied to GNA Sports said he President of the CANA, Madam Carol Garoes of the Namibia will arrive in Accra on Monday for the opening ceremony and to supervise and see to the success of the championship.

Meanwhile the National Netball team, the Golden Maidens has stepped up its preparations towards the competition with 16 players picked from the National Unity Games currently in camp at Legon putting finishing touches t= o their training regimen in readiness for the event.

The Director General of the National Sports Authority, Mr Worlanyo Agra is expected to open the championship on Wednesday, 10th August at 2.00pm.
