GVA gears up for All Africa Games

The Ghana Volleyball Association (GVA) has selected 49 players across the country to form the nucleus of the national team, the Black Spikers to prepare for the 8th All Africa Games, scheduled for Abuja, Nigeria in October this year.

A statement signed by Mr. Erasmus Adorkor, General secretary of the GVA said the players are expected to start training on June 13, at the Lebanon House Tudu.

According to the statement, 27 players would form the male team while the female team would made up of 22 players.

The selected players are; Clement Gbekley, Wise Adzokpa, Seidu Baba, Enoch Asamoah, Frederick Dzrekey, Raphael Lawson, William Akapkpo, Kenneth Baka, Paul Owusu Adjei and Charles Panfred, from the Police Service.

Others are Shamsu Awudu, Casmil Agbenyegah, Solomon Acquaye, Francis Antwi, William Klu, of Kwarmek, while Eric Ofori, Henry Abakisi, Eric Okine, Abass Ayinga, Osman Abdallah, of the Prisons Sevice.

The rest are Osei Awuku, William Gyaaba of Fire Service, Rahman Danladi, George Nii-Mensah of VALCO, Evans Lomotey-Tagoe of the Air Force, Charles Coleman, Prince Dodoo and Andy Swamiker from Osu Youth and Anani Abubakar and Samuel Gyedu.

In the female division, Vida Ocran, Amamatey Yakubu, Mary Addai, Elizabeth Essel, Halimatu Bannerman, Kate Bruce Tagoe, Joyce Atandagne and Angelina Amoh from the Police Service, while Mafujata Froko, Ivy Akortse, Sophia Sowah, Evelyn Fanusah, Emelia Addo, Maami Issah, and Dorothy Boakye from the Prisons Service.

Others are, Rosina Nayembil, VALCO, Josephine Osei, Fire Service, Perpetual Kumi Fijai Secondary Secondary School, Takoradi, Lydia Addo New Juabeng Secondary School, Koforidua, Bertha Amanor and Julliet Atuguba University of Cape Coast and Victoria Oppong of the Sunyani Polytechnic.
