Eight locally Based Players Due For Mali 2002.

Eight local based players are expected to feature in the Black Stars line-up during African Cup of Nations in Mali 2002. The eight have been selected from a twenty-two-man squad who were called up by Black Stars coach, Fred Osam Duodu three months ago.

Emmanuel Osei Kuffuor, Ishmael Addo, Charles Taylor all of Accra Hearts of Oak and Hamza Mohammed of Real Tamale United are some of the local players who are sure to be in the Black Stars fold for the African Nations Cup.

Fourteen foreign-based Ghanaians who are being closely monitored by the technical handlers of the national team will later join the team. Some of the players who have been invited are Samuel Osei Kufour (Bayern Munich), Stephen Appiah (AC Parma) Charles Amoah (Sturm Graz) and Emmanuel Duah (Unaio Leira).

Preparations for the Black Stars ahead of the African Nations Cup will shift to full gear after the current league season ends on December 2. The Black Stars will fly out to Algiers on December 4 to play Algeria the next day. Coach Osam Duodu told MYJOYONLINE that about eleven foreign-based players are in all scheduled to join the team.
