Coalition of Supporters Union (COSU) out-doored

Accra, Sept. 6, GNA - A Coalition of Supporters Union (COSU) was on Wednesday officially outdoored to the Ghanaian sporting public at a colourful ceremony in Accra.

COSU, which is expected to be the umbrella body of all the Sports Supporting Groups consists of the three major supporting groups in the country namely Ghana National Supporters Union (GHANSU), Supporters Union of Ghana (SUGHA) and the Women Supporters Union of Ghana (WOSUGHA).

The seven-member body is made up three members each from the three groups under the Chairmanship of Nana Fitzgerald Woode, a renowned football administrator and former Chairman of Neoplan Stars. Speaking at the ceremony, Nana Fitz said the formation of COSU was to oversee the activities of the various supporters union and to bring them under one union for a concerted effort. "COSU's main objective is to promote peace among the various Supporters Unions in the country."

Nana Fitz explained that the immediate target of the Union is to organize supporters across the length and breadth of the country to cheer the national teams and especially the Black Stars to a record-equalling fifth title during the Ghana 2008 African Cup of Nations. Nana Fitz added that the door is still open for other supporters groups who are desirous of joining forces in the interest of the national cause. The other Executives of the Coalition are Kofi Boateng and Grace Ashy (SUGHA), Abraham Boakye and Enoch Aidoo (GHANSU) and Freda Prempeh and Vicentia Deku (WOSUGHA). 06 Sept. 07
