Boateng Retains Ghana Dreams

Kevin-Prince Boateng insists Ghana represents his international future 100% despite missing out on the chance to represent the Black Stars at the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Portsmouth midfielder was left out of the squad for the Nations Cup because of uncertainty over whether his switch from German youth international to full blown Ghanaian international would be completed on time for the tournament that kicks off in Angola on January 10.

The 22-year old Berlin born player says he would have loved to play in Africa's flagship football tournament but is not letting the Angola disappointment change his mind about his international future.

“Ghana is definitely my future, 100%,” Boateng said. “I want to play for the Black Stars. If I keep going and play well for Portsmouth and we stay up, I think there's a big chance for me to go to the World Cup.

“I'm not unhappy that I'm not at the Africa Cup of Nations. It would just be unbelievable to be playing there for Ghana but it looks now that I won't be going so I'm just happy to try to keep Portsmouth up.”

The former Spurs man has impressed at Fratton Park since his summer move from Tottenham Hotspurs, putting a miserable spell at White Hart Lane behind him in the process.

Ghana insists too that they are keen on having him in their ranks with coach Milovan Rajevac calling him an "excellent player".
