Akoto wins Homowo Cycling Race

Accra, Sep. 1, GNA - 25-year-old Henry Ayitey Akoto of City Micro Cycling club produced a last minute finishing power to win this year's Teshie Homowo Cycling Race held at Teshie in Accra on Saturday. Akoto who was trailing behind the other 119 seasoned riders, won the 90-kilometre race in two hours 55 minutes (2hrs.55mins). Nuru Paddi of Fire Bunch took the second position while the third position went to the defending champion William Afful, also of Fire Bunch with Samuel Anim of Young Stars placing fourth.

The event, which was sponsored by Kasapreko Company Limited, formed past of activities marking this year's Homowo celebrations of the Chiefs and people of Teshie in the Greater Accra Region.

Mr Samuel Attuahene, Greater Accra Regional Sports Development Officer presented prizes to the winners.

He commended the participants for exhibiting good sportsmanship throughout the event and asked them to keep it up to ensure the socio-economic development of the area.
