This new EC logo looks nothing like anything representing a Ghanaian institution however independent. It looks more like something designed for NDC. Why is this logo full of NDC colours?

Ghana is paying six times its total oil revenue as interest on the country’s total public debt stock; that’s the computation done by former Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

“We’ll reach GHC99billion by the end of this year 2015,” the Running Mate to the Flagbearer of the biggest opposition Party said in a post-budget presentation interview with Richard Sky of Citi FM.

“The interest on this debt alone is going to be six times Ghana’s oil revenue,” Dr Bawumia said.

“When we found oil, we were happy that we found oil, but the borrowing of this Government has compromised the whole oil discovery; you need six times our oil revenue just to pay interest on the debt, not even capital, so, it is a really sad development,” he complained.

Even if the whole nation disagrees with the EC in what they do, NDC will always defend and stand by them. My thinking is that the EC is always implementing decisions imposed on them by the NDC. But there is no way that the whole nation will (political parties) will be wrong while NDC alone as a party is right. But time will tell.

Why should we allow them to adopt something from Turkey and try to give some explanation to cover up. Almost all our traditional symbols have meanings. This symbol is represents Yadis- a creature that looks friendly but could be deadly. Please let's avoid a symbol which is Ghanaian and understood by all. Mr Amadu Sulley, Deputy Chairman of the Electoral Commission (EC) in-charge of Operations, says the Commission has not reached a conclusive decision on whether or not to change its logo.

He said what appeared in place of its original logo during the EC’s public engagements last week was an intent.

He said the EC had not formally approved it to be used as its substantive logo.

Mr Sulley said this at a capacity building workshop for media practitioners on election reporting and highlights of Constitutional Instrument (C.I 91) in Tamale on Saturday.

The workshop was organised by the EC in collaboration with the United States Agency for International Development to share information and deepen interaction between the Commission and media practitioners on the thematic areas to promote effective reportage on electoral matters.

Mr Sulley said the EC is monitoring the ensuing debate following the introduction of the new logo and would advise itself at the appropriate time.

The commission must concern itself with ensuring Ghana has a credible and clean validated voters register, ensure the processes before, during and after the elections are transparent and credible and the results declared are the true Internet and purpose of the mandate of Ghanaians, materials get to the polling stations on time, voting begins on time, the verification machines work as they are supposed to, faulty bvr machines are not sent to polling stations, indelible ink work as they are supposed to, indeed, there must be no glitches ever in the process in November, and that is what the EC must concern itself, instead of logos and what it should be changed to or not, when there is absolutely nothing whatsoever wrong with the logo of the EC.

She is a wreck waiting to throw a sucide bomb on our young democracy. Mahama is instigating trouble as an escape for his mismanaged affairs of the country. Ghana needs a positive action now. Massive demostrations and nationwide strike is needed to stop ndc from stealing the elections. Occupy the EC buildings and get interlocutory injunction from court to stop EC from changing the Logo. Take a look at the British High Commission crown at the Embessy, it is the same for all British Crown Agents. Again take a look at the US Embessy coat of arms: it is the same as the .president's logo and the same goes for the Congress men. The coat of arms symbolizes national interest/authority. Further like any business logo or name you do not change them without going through the Registry requirements. Charlotte is biased towards the opposition and all opposition parties must unite to fight the unfair approach of EC. Nana Akuffo you can't play softball with ndc and mahama.They are corrupt and are willing to do anything to seize power. Stop the EC, stop Mahama. The new logo is meaningless and a deliberate attempt to confuse the rural voters and the uneducated. Nana you are being too soft. We need hardball tactics. Go at it.
