A lecturer teaching medicine was giving a classoom observation. He took out a jar of yellow liquid. "This," he explained, "is urine. To be a doctor, you have to be observant of color, smell, sight, and taste."

After saying so, he dipped his finger into the jar and put it into his mouth. His class watched in amazement, most in disgust. But being the good students that they were, the jar was passed, and one by one, they dipped their finger into the jar and put it into their mouths.

After the last student was done, the lecturer shook his head. "If any of you had been observant, you would have noticed that I put my second finger into the jar and my third finger into my mouth."

A man walks into a toothbrush factory, and tells the owner..."Id like ta hath a job telling tootbrushes". The owner looks at him and replies..."I don't know if you are aware of it or not, but you have a serious speech impediment, and I don't see how you would be an effective salesman for this company". The man says "Pleath Just gib me a thance and Ill tho you whut I can do. The owner, thinking that he will get rid of him, tells him..."go to a salesman's school, graduate, and I'll give you a job"

A year later, the same man walks into the toothbrush factory, this time carrying a framed diploma, and declaring..."I'm theer about tha job The owner being a man of his word, gives him a job, He tells the new salesman that their best salesmen sell between 5 to 7 thousand toothbrushes a week.

The new salesman shows up the next week and sits dejectedly in the owners office, as the owner asks..."how many toothbrushes did you sell"?. The new salesman replies..."I told teven tootbrushes". The owner tells him if all he can sell is seven toothbrushes, then he will have to let him go.The new salesman pleads... "Pleath Just gib me a thance and Ill tho you whut I can do. The owner tells him that he will give him one more week.

The new salesman shows up the next week and sits in the owners office, as the owner asks..."how many toothbrushes did you sell"?. The new salesman replies..."I told thirtween thousand tootbrushes". The owners mouth drops, and he declares.."that's a new company record!!!, How did you sell that many toothbrushes?

The new salesman tells him.."come outt to tha air pirt and I'll tho ya ma thetup" The owner arrives at the airport and sees that the salesman has a big welcome sign, a big stack of toothbrushes, a big bowl of potato chips, and a big bowl of dip. The owner says..."I still dont see how you sold that man toothbrushes". The salesman tell him "twy a potato thip". the owner takes a potato chip, dips it, and takes a big bite. He immediately spits it out saying..."this tastes like shit!" New salesman replys..."ya it tis, wanna buy a tootbrush"

factorys can be built/expanded. houses built! Ghana's rates are 30% while the USA is 3-4% on 30 year home loan! 5% on my 6 year car loan...2-3% on 3 year car loan from a credit union!

Whaaaaat? Just 2000 cedis (600 dollars) for research and the Professor is so happy as to insult all graduates? This amount can't even buy a test tube. In Germany money for research is always many 100 million Euros each year ! ...

With the amount of profits financial institutions are making from the masses in Ghana, is this all that they can give for research ($2,000). It sends a wrong signal to other organizations and they need to refrain such practices in the future.

this prof is living in the past. the way these days is to provide thinkers that is why at Wall Street in USA mathematicians, chemical engineers, electrical engineers,and medical doctors etc. are taking on jobs traditionally for finance and accountants. it is only ghana that one hears calls such as this from even from professors.

If you want to know the harm general education can cause a people visit Ekiti State( where Mahama received his honorary doctorate degree award) and Ondo state all in Nigeria. These two states, out the 36 six states of Nigeria in addition to the Federal Capital Territory of Abuja, have produced more than half of all professors in Nigeria yet they are among the poorest states in Nigeria. It is a fact that 99.9% of our universities offer general education even up to the PhD level and no country, on this planet earth, has initiated development with general education. What serious countries do is to use special education to initiate development and use general education to sustain the development. In Ghana the reverse is rather the case that is why instead of initiating development we are busy sustaining poverty. The worse of it is that the Government is even trying hard to impose general education on everybody against valuable advice from development partners like the World Bank and FAO to the contrary. The sad issue is that people with qualification in the vocational and technical education are being suppressed at the delight of the Government of Ghana. How many times have they not asked HND, Technician1,2 and 3 graduates to go for university degrees before they secure their mandated promotions at the various work places? There was even an instance when a Technician 2 graduate teaching technical skills in a JHS of the GES successfully completed his Technician 3 course and when he presented the certificate to the GES office they told him in plain language that they don't know where to place him. So you see why we are under-developing? This is how far our useless university education has brought us.

Do you mean the British system that has failed many? You're wrong, Sir. Those who do very well are graduates with well rounded education (in both arts and science) and not the narrow and restricted type. Stop providing narro ...

Those who do very well are graduates with well rounded education (in both arts and science) and not the narrow and restricted type. Stop providing narrow, one-subject education. Why are graduates from the best universities in the USA are mostly trained with general education that's why they do so well in do so well professionally.
