    I don't know what that 1 week celebration is meant to achieve. It is mere waste of scarce money and piling of debts for the deceased nucleus fsmily

    This is about traditional and customary rites within a traditional area which falls under the traditional ruler who happens to be the chief. Yes, he has the power to ban any un-traditional activities in his area.
