About 32 years ago the Nigerian government thanked educated and non-educated Ghanaians living in Nigeria for their services and asked them to leave. Ghanaians were sacked. Nigerians remind themselves daily of that event by calling a certain bag "Ghana must go" and they seem to enjoy the memory of it.
Do you have amnesia?? GBC do you have amnesia?? Remind your fellow Ghanaian.
It does not matter what the Progress Party did 10 years before their decision asking foreigners living in Ghana to obtain residency permits. The Progress Party's action was before ECOWAS was formed but Nigeria's action took place after the formation of ECOWAS.
Remind your neighbor!

Many Nigerians began moving to Ghana after Ghana became the first independent country in the region in 1957. Also in the 70s many Ghanaians moved to Nigeria as economic refugees The relationship became sour when the flow began to shift the demographics of the country and the people became unhappy. Thus, under former Ghanaian president Busia's Aliens Compliance Order of 1969 Nigerians and other immigrants were forced to leave Ghana as they made up 20 percent of Ghana's population at the time.[2] In 1983, Nigeria retaliated and deported up to 1 million Ghanaian and other African immigrants when Ghana was facing severe drought and economic problems, and another 300,000 in early 1985 on short notice. This further strained relations between the two countries.[3] In April 1988, a joint commission for cooperation was established between Ghana and Nigeria. A bloodless coup in August 1985 had brought Major General Ibrahim Babangida to power in Nigeria, and Rawlings, the leader of Ghana at the time, took advantage of the change of administration to pay an official visit. The two leaders discussed a wide range of issues focusing on peace and prosperity within West Africa, bilateral trade, and the transition to democracy in both countries. In early January 1989, Babangida reciprocated with an official visit to Ghana, which the PNDC hailed as a watershed in Ghana–Nigeria relations.[3]

The family of the dead should sue the Ghana government and the Electricty Corporatuin of Ghana for this unfortunate incidence because they caused the power faile which resulted in the family using candle whic eventually led to the fire outbreak.
