I totally agree; students in Ghana must change their writing style and give credit to authors of books reference in their writing. One major reform I will like to see is the exit of the WAEC and lets focus and transition to a computer adaptive test for the high schools. There's too much cheating in this WEAC exams.

Mmm, l wonder in which Ghana, this lady Professor lives in. Her advice should first and foremost be directed towards Ghanaian higher education faculty who demand their students read (and reproduce) plagiarised "texts", the faculty prepare and sell to the students. The students hence are not encouraged to think outside the box. Ghana campus education is about the lecturers feeding off the poor students, who have to chew and pass.

I wonder if this Prof. Is a product of any of our universities, don't be hypocritical, what has the universities made available for the students as incentives or funding for their ideas to be realistic.

This is great news! A Ghanaian Professor is encouraging students to think?! The old 'Chew Pour Pass and Forget' [CPPF] philosophy is DEAD and BURIED. Like many have said here, that is part of the reasons why we are stagnant in our developmental agenda. But the change can happen only if the tutors themselves change!Students should be encouraged to think outside the box, to critique what they read and develop new conclusions. However, in a situation where the poor students depend on the books written by faculty to pass their examinations, this is not going to be easy. Unless, of course, the tutors themselves encourage them to apply this critical stance even to their own books. After all, tutors have to be humble enough to accept the fact that they are not Divine and hence could be 'challenged' on what they write. If the Book is published and goes for Review, people can tear it into shred! But that is what scholarship is all about. This is how innovative ideas develop.
