Today in Accra the largest religious building in the country will be the mosque being build on our national park at Nima donated by Turkey confirming the Islamic domination of Ghana. Tribalism mixed with chauvinism and despotism from the north has now equaled the hegemony of the ewes . A.C.C.R.A any criminal can roam about so we have them everywhere now . even at the scholarship secretariat hardly ever is an Akan awarded the privilege to go abroad and study now . The Akans are the majority but because most continue to sleep or blindly trust the other tribes these atrocities are taking place . We look at the political strategy of the NDC and see the typical Hannibal wench when he turned the strengths of the mighty Roman army against themselves as they are doing to the Akans . How about flipping the coin: Would you want your manhood to be chopped off or be castrated just so your desire for sex can be controlled or eliminated? Think about that for a minute as that's what happens to girls/women once they're brutally mutilated, either through female genital mutilation/circumcision/infibulation; not to mention other horrific health issues -constant infections,incontinent, infant mortality due to broken necks during birthing (sowed-up labia)!!
Do you think any human being should have that power to abuse/mutilate another, especially, innocent young girls? Would you want anyone to inflict that kind of pain/misery upon you, just so your sexuality can be controlled???

Having said that, those stake holders working on the issues and trying to ban them should be wise themselves so that they are not seen as 'Western Educated agents' trying to destroy our culture. You see, what many of the elders in the society would be arguing is that they are merely continuing what the ancestors left with them. This has been a consistent argument all over the world. It is not only in African communities! The real issue is that the ancestors had a real rationale behind some of these practices. Most often, it stems from not having enough knowledge about what lies behind a particular occurrence and since the African is described by Mbiti and Parrinder as: " Notoriously and Incurably Religious", the religious reasoning comes in handy. If the stake holders therefore study these inhuman practices tracing their background they could find convincing arguments to change the hearts and minds of those who still want to 'protect our culture'! I am pretty sure that there are enough theologians, medical experts and sociologists in our Universities to take these issues on.
In this way we would be saved from people like the so-called 'The Northern Patriot'!
