Lets see how many people will comment about this on our airwaves, once it has nothing to do with NDC or NPP we will never talk about it. Please our naval personnel drowning is becoming too rampant, i mean to hear that a naval officer has drowned is like saying a fire station got burnt.
Lets for once get serious as a nation. I was once a guest on the GNS ANZONE and my God, those men are doing a gallant work stemming from the fact that what they call a war ship was merely a floating see tractor, with a few wrenches and ropes. it was funny when they were practicing their man over board maneuvers, hahahaha an exercise which under normal circumstances should have taken 5 minutes took us close to an hour to complete.
i don't blame these gallant men but rather the politicians who fail to provide them with the right tools to work with. But a little to the Ghana Navy, please our fisher folks dont wear life jackets to sea but some are able to swim further and back without any problem.
Whiles on board the navy war ship, i noticed one particular fat sea man, i was imagining how this soldier will be able to manage himself should he fall over board since he was finding it difficult managing himself on board.
The US seals buried Osama in the middle of the sea, and you are just by an oil rig a few kilometers then you drown. Please train harder and government please give them better equipment.

I fully agree with you Dzifa- i was expecting at least 20 comments but was shocked to see only one for such an important issue.
I think the authorities should review their procedures with regards to when and when not to inflate life jackets. As the name indicates, life jackets are to save lives so if they are failing to do so by not inflating then there is a question mark. How often do they inspect these tools and of what quality are they? Please these men are protecting our oil find and everything must be done to protect them as well.

In fact this event is an inditement and an embarrassment to the Ghana Navy. How can a navy sailor not be able to swim without a life jacket? The Navy should be held fully responsible for this man's death.
