taking control of land in Ghana should be one of the top priorities of the government of Ghana. First there has to be some control of how land is acquired and sold on; the law has to change. we have greedy people chiefs, land guards and individuals who take advantage of the slack legal system where people sell land to a lot of people and people loose out because when this is reported to the police, it take years to have the case resolved and it cost money to take it through the legal system. The lawyers see you as a 'cash cow' and therefore drag the case along for their own benefits. if you decide not to go to court and settle this amicably in this case with the chief, you will have to be give money each time you visit the chief, or the land owner will be hard to find. you will be given another land which has already being sold on. You have to pay yet more money to have it registered only for someone to creep up from the crevices to claim ownership so you are back to square one. Having lost £6000 to so called chiefs and a bank(which was supposed to share the land), I know what I am talking about. It is agonising and disheartening if you work hard and want to set something up but loose it all. This paves the way for the rich and powerful foreigners who splash the cash and people fall at their feet to give them what they want and more.
Sad case isn't it? very soon foreigners will be owning most of the land and there is nothing we can do about it if this is not addressed.
I will definitely send some of the chiefs to jail as an example because they sell a piece of land to so many people, and there is nothing anyone can do about it.
I rest for now

In the case of land sale between among Ghanaians, the lease system should be reviewed as well. Ghanaians who want to own land for the purpose of building or business shouldn't be restricted from owning land bought. Those who'd opt for the lease system should be differentiated from those who'd want to own property and land in the initial agreement. That the pride to be Ghanaian.
