Every driver and his mate should be given a training in first aid and atleast and other drivers for that matter should be first trained. I agree with this gentleman that accident victims could live or their injuries limited if special care and attention is given at scene of accidents. The poor state of our road could be contributing factor but bad and reckless drivers are mostly the cause of these road accidents.

The drivers and the public should be educated on it, on the tv,fm stations and so on. The education should include: 1) The public should stop lynching the accident drivers in other to allow the courts take its course so that the drivers can take the victims to hospital (if possible). 2) There should be more road signs. The road signs should include warnings ahead and the road signs should not be placed at the spot but few distance before the main spot. Thanks.

It is true that the manner in which the first people at an accident sceen handle accident victims will determine whether the victim will live or die. Unfortunately, most people do not know what to do and simply just bundle the wounded into vehicles and speed off to the nearest hospital. The simply do not know how to apply first aid to such victims. A person with broken spine has to be handled with extreeme care to save his/her life.
It now behoves on the authorities to teach how such victims are to be handled.
In other nations, first aid application for different injuries are taught regularly in the electronic and print media. It should be a govt policy that every radio, tv and newspapers MUST show/print such lessons during all their news on daily basis. Since most people watch news and read papers, they will also be learning first aid. It must also form part of all schools carriculum. With that an appreciable level of knowledge on first aid will be realised to assist health providers in the treatment of casualties.
