I’ve permit to run a filling station - Ayawaso East MP

Demolished fuel station at Mile 7 Demolished fuel station at Mile 7

The Member of Parliament for Ayawaso East Naser Mahama Toure has hit back at the Municipal Chief Executive for Ga West, Sam Atukwei Quaye, over allegations that he does not have permit to operate a fuel station.

The MCE has demolished a fuel station under construction at Mile 7 in Achimota, Accra belonging to the lawmaker.

According to the MCE, the fuel station and other buildings which were demolished have been built in water ways. The assembly also contended the fuel station had no permit. But the special assistant to the lawmaker Osumanu Guarantee has vehemently refuted such claims.

Speaking to Starr News’ Ibrahim Alhassan, Guarantee said the MCE acted in bad faith.

“We have duly received most of the documentations and then approvals that are required before putting up a filling station. I must admit that there are a few documentations that are left to be done. So for the information to be put across that there is no permit I believe is a lie,” he pointed out.

Guarantee added there was an earlier agreement with the MCE for the canopy to be taken down without necessarily demolishing it. An agreement, he claims, the MCE did not honour. He maintained fire certificates, Zonal reports, hydrological services report among others have all been secured prior to the demolition.

The MP has, however, said he will not take any legal action against the Assembly. He is, however, hopeful dialogue with the assembly will yield positive results.
