Klottey Korley Parliamentary Candidate of the NDC Dr Zanetor Rawlings on Saturday embarked on a clean-up campaign to sanitise the Kwame Nkrumah Circle and its environs of filth.

Her initiative was to observe the National Sanitation Day in Accra and also in commemoration of the victims of the June 3, disaster.

Dr Zanetor Rawlings in an interaction said unclean environment also leads to needless deaths such as maternal and infant mortality.

“People cannot just drop waste in the nearby Korle Lagoon and expect disaster -free rains.

“I am therefore here to join people in the constituency to desilt choked gutters and clean the environment to show the way that disasters are preventable.

“As a medical doctor, I am also aware of the effects of malaria and waterborne diseases such as cholera and diarrhoea on the people,” she said.
