We may be already refugees and second class citizens in our own country but that does not make deaf and blind to the truth. We know the root cause of dumsor is your Anti Akan hate agenda and because Akosombo is on Akan territory you have allowed mismanagement and neglect to practically put out of function one turbine after another. You spread propaganda and lies about some water level mixed with bullshit about the whole thing being old or obsolete forgetting that most hydro generators in the world are older than ours but still functioning. No talk of the possibility that its still possible to send these defunct turbines to Europe , North America , Japan or even Russia (NEVER TURKEY)and have them re-calibrated . The harder anyone is hit by ‘dumsor’ the greater will be their bill when it is eventually eradicated.
If, for example, because of the unreliable state of the current ‘Dumsor’ supply situation they are only receiving electricity for let’s say on average just 20% of the time, then when a 24/7 power supply is finally restored that would represent an additional availability of four times the present ‘dumsor’ rate, thereby making the 100% availability five times what it currently is.
Assuming that customers are charged directly according to usage [i.e. metered] and that their usage will be directly proportional to availability - they will be using,[and hence be charged for] around five times as much electricity as they are at the moment .
With the 59.2% price hike soon to be brought in they would find that their electricity bill will actually jump to around eight times what they are currently paying. An 800% increase!
Anyone who seeks to establish just how the impending the price hike and eventual restoration of a 24/7 supply might affect their personal liability to the supply company can use the following simple formula to show the factor by which their present charge will be multiplied
(1 + {[100 – X]/X}) multiplied by 1.59
Note that X is the percentage of time that electricity is currently being supplied.
For example only six hours a day equates to 25%; ten hours a day equates to 42%; 16 hours a day equates to 67%; and so on .
