“Nobody is feeling your better Ghana”, Greenstreet shouted when he delivered his party’s solidarity message to the NDC at the congress at the Baba Yara Stadium in the Ashanti regional Captial, Kumasi – stronghold of the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).
In the full glare of the President, Vice President, former President Jerry Rawlings, and thousands of leaders and supporters of the NDC, a defiant Greenstreet said: “…Currently nobody, I mean nobody is feeling your better Ghana.”
“Continuous ‘dumsor dumsor,’ corruption from top to bottom, left right inside out, and all the challenges you are facing [are] suffocating the Ghanaian people.”
He added: “We would have thought that perhaps you may have used an occasion like this to discuss policies, programmes and solutions to all the difficulties we are facing as a nation, but no, you chose today to share your Christmas gifts with each other.”
“Ghanaians are not happy at all. This ‘bronya’ is dry. Too too dry,” he told the President, adding: “The most painful thing of all is that you don’t care.”
“NDC continue, we are watching you, Ghana is watching you, do what you want to do, we also know what we’ll come and do…make sure you’ll elect executives who will be able to steer your parties affairs when you are in opposition. Boys abr3.”
The wheelchair-bound Politicians has been called names and criticised by leaders and supporters of the NDC after his bluntness. While Majority Leader Alban Bagbin has said he believed Greenstreet was possessed by some demons, which caused him to be “so emotional”, presidential staffer Sam George wrote on his Facebook wall that: “Ivor Greenstreet apparently needs elevation to see the Better Ghana.”
However, Nkrumah said Greenstreet’s message was crafted by the CPP to capture the mood and mind of the entire country.

I really wonder what the National House of Chiefs tell their colleagues who breach the constitution of Ghana by openly supporting political parties?
Do such chiefs think we are still in the era of kingdoms when their utterances are laws that must have to be obeyed by their subjects?
Are these clowns of chiefs aware that their powers have been trimmed to size by the country's constitution and they have to be law-abiding by going by the dictates of the constitution?
It is a high time these sycophantic chiefs realized their positions and powers in modern constitutional arrangements and fall in line.
Gone are the days when we had Kings, overlords and whatever titles these oftentimes wicked,murderous and selfish Kings, Overlords,who have have been foisted over their poor subjects had on all they surveyed.
Ghana is not a kingdom, hence there is no such position as King. Whoever chooses to call himself King must be told in the face that he is a century behind modernity and can only play King before his household and the few who have been left behind in modernity and regard him as such.
Nene has to apologize to his people for his unguarded speech as I believe, looking at his age and probably the little experience he must have acquired over the period on this earth , he should be aware that even his children in his household do not think alike.
No doubt some people are calling for the scrapping of this institution and I believe such calls come about because of the behavior of Chiefs like Nene.
I personally would wish the institution remains as there are many respectable, forward-looking, development-oriented and unifiers among Chiefs in Ghana and it is a high time the National House of Chiefs sanctioned the few who are bringing their institution into disrepute and distancing themselves from the utterances of such stooges.
Persons in the area who do not share his views should speak up and warn him to desist from bringing the whole area into disrepute by educating him on the beauty of democracy with all its attendant freedoms.

Although the people of Manya Krobo owe cultural allegiance to Sakite, political affiliations is an entire different ball game. Meddling of our traditional rulers in politics has been one of the enabling factors of corruption. To Sakite and his ilk, president Mahama has done them a favor by initiating a program in his traditional area hence the promise of infinite allegiance. The Kpong Water project has been around for decades. Mahama and his cohorts are just basking undeservedly in other peoples toil. They have virtually nothing to do with the project.

REJOINDER: “WE’LL ALWAYS VOTE FOR NDC”- KONOR OF MANYA KROBO
The Manya Krobo Traditional Council has taken judicious notice of the content of stories running in the media, reporting Nene Sakite II, Konor of the Manya Krobo Traditional area as having pledged the continuous support of the people of Manya Krobo for the ruling government of the National Democratic Congress.
Nene was delivering his welcome address at the commissioning of an extension work by the President, John Dramani Mahama at the Kpong Water Works in the Eastern Region on Tuesday December 23, 2014.
The thrust and intent of Nene’s statement was that the people of Manya Krobo do vote for the NDC, he was therefore questioning how come a lot of the needs of the people of Manya Krobo have still not been met. This was the spirit in which the statement was made.
While apologizing for the anguish that may have been caused a section of the public as a result of the misrepresentation of facts by the media, it is appropriate that we set the record straight, putting side by side the words of the Konor and what was reported in the media.
It is worth noting that while the Konor made an observation of the fact that “We vote for you all the time,…” (i.e the people of Manya Krobo in the past five general elections have indeed selected an NDC candidate) what has been reported by sections of the media that “We WILL ALWAYS vote for NDC” is a mischievous and a totally inaccurate representation of what the Konor said or intended. The introduction of two new words- WILL and ALWAYS- by the reporters completely gave a different meaning to what the Konor said in his statement. The observation by the Konor that his people have voted in the past for the NDC is not to say that they will vote for the NDC in the future, which is the unfortunate deduction the reporters seek to make.
In the opening paragraphs of some of the stories in the media, some media houses gave a deliberate twist to the statement and alledged Nene as saying “His people WILL FOREVER vote for the governing National Democratic Congress”. This is patently false. Nowhere in Nene’s speech did he say that his people will FOREVER vote for the NDC.
It is clear that the two statements “We vote for you all the time” and “We WILL ALWAYS vote for you”, are markedly different in meaning. It is unfortunate that anybody could misconstrue the two to mean the same thing, thus leading to the present misunderstanding.
The Konor and the Traditional Council acknowledge the fact that the population of the area is diverse- and election results bare testimony. The people have an unfettered right to freely choose who they want as leaders and this, the Konor and the Council stand to defend. We also want to emphasize that both the Konor and the Council respect the individual will of the people and will grant it as per their political affiliations.
If for any reason the import of the statement varied from the understanding of a section of the public, given the different meanings to the words, and for which reason may have been anguished, the Council regrets it and hopes that this clarification will put the issue to rest.
