Even our current number of 275 MPs is too high for a small struggling country like Ghana especially in view of the fact that our MPs as well as our entire Parliament are a mere rubber stamp ready to endorse any silly proposal placed before them by the Executive arm of government. Examples of the rubber stamping works of our disappointing legislature are the $ 5000 dollars they each received to approve Kuffour's sale of Ghana Telecom to Vodafone, the GMO bill passage and a host of other decisions in betrayal of the national interest for a mess of pottage. So why increase the number of these leeches to bleed Ghana try?

The IEA's Winner Takes All Committee has lost all credibility with its ridiculous suggestions so far. The members want to force proportional representation coalition government on Ghanaians by enshrining it into the Constitution. Now they come out with this silly idea. They are behaving as if they are living on Mars. In 2012, most Ghanaians were of the view that 275 MPs was on the high and now they say it should be 400. Again in the 1970s Ghanaians rejected coalition government when Gen Kutu Achaempong suggested Union Government and almost forced it on Ghana but thanks to Gen Akufo's palace coup it never became a reality.
Even if their excuse is that these are ideas from their consultations, do they not let those who propose such silly ideas know that they have implications and cost? Instead, they come out and defend the proposals religiously as if the ideas have been tried and tested.

The explanation is still short sighted and senseless. Inclusiveness is a constitutional amendment for regional ministers DCEs to be elected rather than to be appointed my the president. We should rather reduce the number of parliamentarians and ministerial positions to foster quality Governance. Sorry for Ghana for having people like this to make decisions for it.

Why is the motivation at all that urges the IEA to concentrate their energies on the political issue which do not bring bread and butter to the tables of the poor in our society. When we are making noise day in and day out about cutting government expenditure, we are to increase members of parliament to 400. This part of what I use to say that Ghanaians we are the causers of our own woes. IEA, this is a non starter.
