Hmmm! he happened to be in Kumasi the said stronghold of the opposition NPP party and decided to traditionally address a large number of the NDC supporters that have congregated in front of The Ashante Regional branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and waiting patiently to hear him.
With cameras rolling and microphones popping-up all over the place, he simply greeted the enthused multitude and charged them on with some of the usually NDC themes. After that, he settle them down for his all important speech before them and never did he voice out Ashante Region or Asantefuo in his language, not even once. So, don’t let anybody convince you of any different, period.

Both the NDC and NPP should show some maturity and quit these "gotcha" games of bigotry. Those who think they have the loudest mouths hope to win by deceiving the unsuspected Electorate to hold any such bogus claims against their opponents. It is all for coercing votes on the fringes to bolster the core of each Party's.
The most irritating thing about the current charges of anti-Ashanti sentiments against the President is that those very elements claiming these charges seem to be the ones that have been protesting against the Asantehene giving audience to the President. Some of them have even resorted to insulting the Otumfuor for welcoming the President, and have express disgust at the probability that the Otumfuor could be a NDC sympathizer or member.
There is nothing wrong with the Otumfuor preferring one National political Party to another, especially where that Party has no formal position against the background of the Otumfuor.
Meanwhile, the hard evidence of the Speech the President is accused of indicates that the claims of his bigotry against Ashantis are all speculative projections. The words he used have only been conveniently extrapolated by his opponents to sound tribally against Ashantis.
It is obvious that when the President mentioned those he thought of incapable of appreciating anything good he would do in Kumasi, he meant his political Opponents. He did not mention Ashantis as ingrates. That is the truth we must all honestly admit.
Now, we hear others trying hard to cite previous similar utterances by the President elsewhere to construct a trait of anti-Ashanti in the President. I think folks are unfairly trying to arouse certain hatred among Ashantis against the President. I have seen some comments that even point at certain Ashanti Chiefs as having betrayed Ashantis for joining the Otumfuor to welcome the President to the Ashanti Region. What shows more bigotry than these charges?
It seems these folks towing this line of crude tribal politicking are designing to force their fellow Ashantis to rise up against those Chiefs for their ostensible support of the President.
In fact, all that we should have settled for is just a simple protocol of statesmanship afforded the President by the Otumfuor and those of his sub-Chiefs that welcomed the President. And yet, here we are with this elaborate scheme to smear the President of tribalism, misusing his own words against him and justify the bigotry of these same accusers.
All discerning Ghanaians must denounce this type of politicking. Surely, if the President had directly and even unambiguously referred to Ashantis or any other group as ingrates, he would have deserved the avalanche of criticism dumped on him. But it plainly clear that was not the case. How could he have said anything so derogatory to the Otumfuor who had just welcomed him to the Region only to be verbally assaulted himself by some incorrigible, die-hard Ashanti NPP opponents of the President?
We should take note that there is no parallel between what the President said and what Akufo-Addo said in his "Yen Akanfo de.. All die be die" utterances.
