That's physician's naivety! Is HIV the only deadly transmitted disease? Society can only be advised to be cautious in their sexual decisions but cannot be barred from taking relationships vows for no testing. Churches by Ghana's constitution have no powers to make policy decisions for the nation ie church is not part of Ghana's governing bodies. They should help the poor and needy with the monies they collect and stop living like millionaires at the expense of the poor.

Any institution or organization can make it a prerequisite to undergo any number of medical and physical tests, before membership or employment is afforded. The goal of course is for the safety of all members or employees, but it also allows the organization to protect its members from being exposed to a deadly disease unknowingly. Not everybody who has AIDS is aware, and therefore do not even have the responsibility of caring for themselves properly or protection their friends and neighbors. I SUPPORT THE DECISION OF THE CHURCH. BUT I ALSO SUPPORT THE RIGHT OF INDIVIDUALS NOT TO PARTICIPATE IN THAT CHURCHES ACTIVITIES.

Rather, they should ask people to take the test that will prevent sickle cell disease.

Does Mr. Kwaku Osei know the implications of what he is saying? Another "square peg", or properly put, an "arm-chair" policy maker.
How would it feel if he was in church, keeping himself "clean" for "Miss Right" who comes like an angel. He and "Miss Right" never takes HIV test, but go through marriage counselling alright, then six months into their marriage he begins to have health issues and changes in his body.
How would he take it if clinical tests show eventually that he got HIV? Would he spare "Miss Right" for being a betrayer?
Maybe this man is already married, but he could put his son or daughter in the picture I'm trying to paint here. How would he feel as a father if his son or daughter had to go through such an ordeal when they were the one's who kept themselves "clean", but the spouse came to infect them with their disease?
No pastor want to start burying especially freshly married couples suddenly? Life is precious, wai!
If people don't have anything meaningful to offer society, they should just learn to keep quiet.

On this issue I stand with the churches, they are using better judgement than government officials who are merely pondering for popularity and future vote.
